They were published by Time/Life in 1977 and were quite expensive at the time.  Each book covers a specific subject such as "The Ranchers," "The Loggers," "The Women," "The Gunfighters," "The Gamblers," "The Indians," "The Mexican War," "The Great Chiefs," "The Rivermen," "The Alaskans," "The Miners," "The Railroaders," "The Cowboys," "The Scouts," "The Soldiers," "The Pioneers," etc. They are all quite handsomely finished in simulated hand-tooled leather covers.
